About the Event

Feel with your hands.

Touch with your heart.

Connect with your soul.

Apply the teachings of Osteopathy, Massage therapy and Energy work into your hands-on assists.

Uplevel your way of teaching yoga by holistically understanding the human body.

Expand your horizon into the field of alternative medicine and energy healing.

This holistic and sensual workshop is suitable for Yoga teachers and everyone interested in the art of touch.

We will explore the basics of touch. Learning how to touch other bodies in a supportive way, how to give wholesome hands-on assists in yoga asanas, how to enhance awareness and energy flow with touch.

Combining Osteopathy, Energy Work & Yoga assists.

There is a language deeper than words. It is the language of the body, of the skin, of the nervous system, the soma. It conveys a thousand messages within each instant, and is perceived directly and fully by the subconscious mind. When we pay attention and observe patiently, we can read the emotions of the other through the subtleties of how they move and breathe.

Even more deep is the communication that takes place during physical touch. As our bodies come into contact, an intimate dialogue unfolds between our skin and most notably through our hands.

“Touch is the first sense that we develop in the womb. Touch is at the heart of our essence. Touch is essential” - Marie-Sophie Kiepe

Our hands are rich in neuroreceptors, the amount of information that flows in and out is exceptional. When we touch another being, our intention and emotional state is felt immediately. We all remember moments when we were touched. You immediately feel the difference between hesitant and loving touch.

We feel most open and surrendered with touch that is compassionately tuned into our being. This kind of touch is present, caring, confident, and engaged in ongoing dialogue with us.

"Your hands are the ambassadors of your heart". - Marlene Schmitt

In the Taoist system of energy medicine, there is a meridian which runs directly out of the heart down the arms into the hands. Our hands are our primary vehicle for converting our hearts' intention into action. As we walk through life, we use our hands to give and receive. The presence with which we walk ripples into our relationships, thus the more conscious our approach, the deeper connections we make.

How can we read other people's bodies?

How do we touch others with awareness and intention?

How can we use this knowledge in a supportive way when giving Asana-assists?

Questions we will explore and discuss in this workshop.

About Marie-Sophie Kiepe:

Marie-Sophie Kiepe is a complementary medical practitioner, author and well-being creator with a strong belief in the non-verbal art of healing. After a knee injury stopped her from pursuing her career as a professional ballet dancer, she started studying the body’s intrinsic tendency to heal itself.

Since then, she has studied Physical Therapy (BSc), Osteopathic Medicine (MSc), Public Health (MPH) and became an international licensed Gyrokinesis and Gyrotonic teacher as well. She is also an expert of Tibetan Energy Work and Yin Tao. She has found joy and success in working as a physiotherapist and osteopath in different clinical settings helping dancers of the Vienna State Opera, the State Ballet Berlin or National Sodre Montevideo. She has also proved herself guiding people towards healing in more alternative institutions like Nierika Medicine Institute in Mexico before she founded The Touch by Marie-Sophie Kiepe. She is also the writer of numerous articles about the effects of dance on somatic and psychological illnesses and osteopathic treatments for musicians, which were published in collaboration with the Medical University Berlin Charité in various journals. During the years, Marie-Sophie has developed her own programs and founded the collective Voice of the Womb. Her mission is to help people to reconnect with themselves to experience vibrant life-energy and embody wholeness through their senses.

About Marlene Schmitt:

Berlin-based Marlene Schmitt is an internationally trained yoga teacher (RYT-500) with over two decades of bodywork experience. It is her vision to share yoga in an undogmatic and open way accessible to all. In 2017 she co-founded Yoga on the Move, a yoga collective offering yoga studio classes, pop-up events, online courses, retreats and trainings. For Marlene, sharing yoga means creating a space where everyone is allowed to simply BE, in the here and now, connected to body and mind through the breath. With her powerful and creative Vinyasa sequences, she allows us to dive into deeper levels of consciousness, strengthening our body-mind connection and growing beyond habitual thought patterns and beliefs.
